Meet Kai Dorothy

Pronouns: SHE/THEY

Kai Dorothy Mondloch

Intern Therapist

Looking for a therapy can be a journey; maybe you’re Kermit seeking that rainbow connection, someone trans / queer who respects your vision as a lover and a dreamer, or you’re Alice, lost in one confusing situation after another, just trying to make sense of things and feel understood.

This life can be overwhelming, and I believe that, as Lyn Fraser wrote, “the therapist and client collaborate on a journey in search of the client’s truth.”  Your truth is something only you can uncover, and it’s my job to support, respect, and hear you in the process of working through the challenges you face in your day-to-day experience. Talking is how we make sense of what’s going on in our lives, but it can be difficult.

As a white, queer, transgender woman who is neurodivergent, recovering from religious trauma and living with chronic illness / disability, I have a deep respect for the importance of someone who wants to understand you on your terms.  I work from a trauma-informed, relational, and person-centered lens, and I want to know what you want and need out of therapy.

I’m working towards my MSW degree, and am currently in my second year at Smith School of Social Work, under the clinical supervision of Kai Thigpen, LCSW
